Nannis & Associates, Inc. is a consulting structural engineering firm offering a full range of structural engineering services. As an outgrowth of a firm established in 1928, Nannis & Associates has deep set roots in the structural engineering field.
The profession of "Engineer" requires the highest integrity and technical ability. Every Engineer must be above suspicion; he acts as a professional advisor to his clients and his advice must be unprejudiced; he may be charged with the exercise of judicial functions; he has moral responsibilities to his clients and professional associates; his profession carries with it grave responsibilities to the public. These duties and responsibilities cannot be properly discharged unless his motive, conduct and ability are such as to command respect and confidence. It is mandatory that all Engineers conform strictly to all laws of the state and to all governing building codes and regulations having jurisdiction in the state where the project is located.
Every engineering decision takes into consideration economics, laws, regulations and codes, expediency, particular circumstances, assumptions of future growth or change, present conditions, and the health, safety, welfare and needs of the client and the public.
Structural Engineering Services
At the beginning of a project, the Structural Engineer shall meet with the client and make preliminary studies regarding budget, major construction methods, and materials to determine the structural system.
The Structural design shall consist of the determination of the materials, size, shape, strength and relative position of structural members, keeping within the laws and building codes having jurisdiction. Foundation design shall be based on the recommendations of a registered engineer who specializes in the geotechnical who is employed by the client to perform the subsurface investigation. The Structural Engineer shall provide the client a set of signed Construction Drawings illustrating the details of the structure in such a manner that the structural members may be correctly and efficiently constructed. He shall also issue specification governing the structural work.
The Engineer shall review shop drawings, test reports, samples, RFI's, and other data required by the Contract Documents. If required, the Engineer shall visit the site to determine that the structural portion of the work is being built in accordance with the Contract Documents.

Investigative & Forensic Services
Investigative/Forensic Engineering Services is a specialized practice of Nannis & Associates, Inc., whose experienced professional engineers apply their analytical skills to unravel the technical mysteries of failures and apply their practical skills to mitigate their consequences. Over the past 20 years, N&A has performed more than 800 Investigative Engineering Services ranging from minor hairline cracks to the total collapse of a structure. This area involves site investigations, detailed analysis, cost estimates, tests, research, etc. The reports are based on professional opinions based upon judgment, experience, mathematical calculations or references to other authority.
Renovation Or Rehabilitation
Nannis & Associates, Inc. has extensive experience in renovation and rehabilitation work. In the past 20 years, we have been involved in more than 67 major renovations and rehabilitations throughout the Southeastern United States and in many historic districts such as Charleston, SC, Greenville, SC, Columbus, GA, Savannah, GA and Atlanta, GA.
